2020 August Bergman, M.D., Scholarship Recipients Announced

The Nemaha County STEP Foundation is excited to announce the recipients of the August Bergman, M.D., Scholarship. August Bergman, M.D., has been a supporter of the local community foundation for many years. He previously established the Elizabeth Bergman Memorial Scholarship and gave generously to start the B&B Legacy (Challenge) Scholarship.

The scholarship recipients, receiving $1,000 each, are Ainsley Renee Smith and Hannah Kay Whittaker of Sabetha High School along with Kamble Haverkamp of Centralia High School. Ainsley is the daughter of Rick and Shelley Smith, and she plans to attend Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island with the intent to pursue a career in the publishing industry. She is also considering law school. Hannah Kay Whittaker is the daughter of Doug and Susanna Whittaker. Hannah plans to attend Baylor University in the fall with the intention of attending medical school after college. Kamble is the son of Travis and Nickie Haverkamp. He plans to attend Kansas State University majoring in the Construction Science and Management program. After college, he plans to move back home and start a family. Eventually, he hopes assist with the family construction business alongside his father.
